Piroska's Career Transformation Story

Clinic Sese’s Founder and Medical Director, Piroska Cavell, is no stranger to transformation. Her unique career path has given her an exceptional, empathetic understanding of how her patients want their outside appearance to reflect their inner selves.

Piroska’s first career as a hairdresser and make up artist was at heart of the makeover industry; working with Covershots International, creating transformational looks for women who had previously not felt comfortable in their own skin.

When crossdressers and trans-women began asking for similar support, Piroska was inspired by the joy and relief that they expressed and set up her own photographic and makeover studio. 

“We would take them on some mind-blowing location shoots – including photographing our trans-women outside their offices. When none of their colleagues recognised them – I could see how happy they were to bring together these divergent parts of their lives.”

Following a move to Manchester and having family, Piroska turned 40 and began wanting to make a change for herself. Midwifery would require long hours of studying and night shifts, but it would also draw on Piroska’s ability to listen and care for women in their most life-changing moments.

Rising up through the ranks to Midwifery Lead for Elective Caesarean Sections at the Conquest Hospital in Hastings, East Sussex, Piroska’s midwifery career was looking and feeling like a life choice. A chance encounter Dr Zack Ally, the Founder and Principal Trainer of Derma Medical, however, meant that Piroska would makeover her career for a second time.

The opportunity to combine her professional medical skills with advanced aesthetic treatments and effective weight management techniques – all in a safe, regulated environment – made complete sense to Piroska. Over the course of both her beauty and midwifery work, she had seen how women and men were identifying a mismatch between the way they feel on the inside with how they looked on the outside.

The world of aesthetics would blend Piroska’s nursing background with her empathetic ability to understand the transformation patients are seeking; combining her medical expertise with injection artistry, vision and insight, always with the highest level of care.

“Patients have my ear. I like to listen. For me, it’s always been about how people feel – once I used make-up and hairdressing, then I raised my game to nursing and midwifery, I feel aesthetics combine the best of both worlds. My biggest kick is when patients leave looking and feeling happy in their skin.”
